Vistair History

Vistair has its foundations in the software industry combined with commercial aviation management. Vistair started out during the early 90's from an interactive media software company and in 1993 created the Audio Visual Airfield Briefing system on the Philips CDInteractive platform. This was the first product of its kind and, although subsequently developed on to more modern platforms still exists in the form of the Online Audio Visual Airfield Briefing's.

During the late 90's the company was invited to assist with conversion of Flight Ops Documents to JAR Format with the national airline. The project initiated a rationalisation of the airline technical manuals and a structured data approach was chosen. Vistair were involved in conversion and publication of structured manual data for the operations manuals.

In 2002 Vistair decided to focus on its strengths and specialise in the provision of the Technical Publications service for the airline industry as an outsource option. It was clear that businesses such as the airlines do not want to carry complex propriety software systems or in-house publishing or document management expertise and that offering the state of the art technology at a low cost was an attractive proposition. Vistair has since grown to be the industry leader in providing its electronic technical publications service with clients in Europe and farther afield and it continues to build on this strength.

Vistair continues to develop simple-to-use software systems and has recently launched its world beating safety management system SafetyNet (2007) and its flight operations portal product Touch. Touch was launched in 2009 and is gaining ground rapidly. SafetyNet is used in the management of safety for over 3000 operating aircraft in Europe.

Vistair continues to invest in innovation. It has just launched a refreshed version of its stand-alone documents viewing platform; Skylight for integration into the latest EFB architectures. Skylight provides the full e-documents functionality within the EFB environment.
