Major MOD Contract Announced – Safetynet Established As Benchmark For Safety Reporting
The Ministry of Defence has announced that it is adopting an innovative safety reporting system called SafetyNet for all air operations throughout all three armed services.
Produced by UK-specialist, Vistair, the new system allows operational personnel to submit air safety reports worldwide accurately and efficiently.
Developed just three years ago, SafetyNet is being widely adopted by commercial airlines across the world. The MoD decision to use the new system for flight operations across the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force follows two years of product review and testing.
John Franklin, project manager for SafetyNet at the Ministry of Defence said: “Safety is the greatest priority for air operations across all three services and we are proud of our record in this area.”
“The SafetyNet system allows us to efficiently manage safety reporting in the UK and overseas.”
“Following in-depth testing we believe that this product is well designed and will greatly enhance the efficiency of safety reporting across the services.”
Ian Herbert, managing director of Vistair said: “Operating hundreds of different aircrafts and generating flight safety reports at the Ministry of Defence, has meant that this contract has established SafetyNet as the industry standard tool for managing aviation safety.
“We are delighted to be working with the Ministry of Defence and believe this product is ideal for them as it can gather and analyse the information and provide feedback to relevant services or operations.”
