Vistair Delivers For Aerologic

August 09

Vistair, Europe’s leading aviation documentation specialist, has been chosen by recently-launched air freight carrier AeroLogic to organise its documentation into a standard that allows both electronic and printed versions to be easily used by all air crew.

The Vistair document management service has proved particularly useful for Aerologic as the carrier is operating a fleet of Boeing’s new 777F aircraft.  This meant many changes were made to its technical manual during the certification – a process that was made easier following AeroLogic’s appointment of Vistair.

AeroLogic, a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo, originally planned to develop and support document management in house. But it soon became clear that to develop a first-class product for the company would be both complex and costly.
It selected Vistair after cost comparison against other suppliers and a recommendation from DHL Air UK.
Now every AeroLogic crew member has an AeroBook that provides him or her with the latest updated manuals along with a range of other services.
Sean Arnold at AeroLogic said: “The Vistair product proved an enormous help during the ramp-up phase of the airline. To achieve the AOC (Air Operator's Certificate) from the authorities requires a challenging amount of documentation, which has to be well presented and accurate both in content and reference.
“Also, the 777F is a new aircraft type and consequently there have been many changes from Boeing during its certification, which has resulted in numerous changes in the technical manuals and cross references in other manuals.
“Vistair provided this service with excellent turnround times along with helpful and intelligent input. To have done this without such a service would have been daunting to say the least.”

AeroLogic plans to operate an eight-strong fleet of 777Fs by next year and as it expands, the need for continuous changes and updates will also grow.
“As a result, Vistair’s service will continue to be a valuable and cost effective,” added Sean.
“The management and staff at Vistair have been enormously helpful and flexible under our often unreasonable demands and they have delivered a product that has helped towards achieving not only a  smooth and trouble free  approval from the LBA (the German  Aviation  Authority), but one that has prepared us for our initial IOSA (IATA Operations Safety Audit).”
AeroLogic was founded in September 2007 to provide a lean, low-cost platform for DHL Express Network and Lufthansa Cargo using the latest technological tools. It is based at DHL’s European Hub in Leipzig.
