Contributing To Airline Safety - Vistair Elected Onto The Uk Flight Safety Committee
Vistair is pleased to announce that it has been elected onto the UK Flight Safety Committee (UKFSC) to exchange information and discuss ways to improve safety and reduce incidents.
Following a vote by the UKFSC members, Vistair joins a select few other companies which contribute to airline safety.
Founded over 40 years ago, the UKFSC is an association of professionals dedicated to the improvement of aviation safety.
“Membership of the UKFSC will allow us to keep abreast of aviation safety requirements and make a serious contribution to airline safety by being part of the forum that delivers change to the industry safety policies.” said Stuart Mckie-Smith, Aviation Safety and Security adviser, Vistair.
With members from across the UK and wider, they range from experts on most disciplines within the industry, regulators and unions, military, together with airline safety officers who control and decide upon safety management within their respective airlines.
“We are already raising issues with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the UKFSC forum on the assessment of risk and standardising this throughout the industry.”
It was therefore essential for Vistair to be involved with discussions and put in their knowledge and experience on flight safety, aviation security and dangerous goods.
“The forum provides an ideal opportunity for all members to get together regularly, discuss issues and benefit from each other’s experience.”
Meetings are held every two months, mainly at Gatwick, Heathrow and Farnborough and information is freely exchanged but under strict ‘Chatham House’ rules of confidentiality.
