New Logistics Centre Puts Vistair At The Hub Of Aviation Sector
September 09
Europe’s leading aviation documentation specialist Vistair has continued its expansion by opening a Global Logistics Management Centre at Heathrow Airport.
The 600 sq m office, between Terminals Four and Five, consolidates Vistair’s flight operations library services onto one site as the business goes from strength to strength.
Vistair works with 40 airlines, including full-service, low-cost and freight carriers in the UK and Europe, and provides a range of services to improve aircraft safety and efficiency.
Its paper-based document library service builds, collates and amends documentation for cost- effective manual delivery to aircraft anywhere in the UK and Europe.
Vistair owns a fleet of 10 vans which are security-cleared to delivery technical documents airside at all major UK airports.
It also has a suite of web-based products which make it far easier for pilots, aircrew and engineers to access vital technical data for each aircraft and also log any safety-related incidents for each flight – from turbulence and bird strikes to disruptive passengers,
Vistair’s paper-based technical library, which includes flight, route and other technical data, is constantly being updated and expanded.
Operating such a large operation to a growing client base required a new, bigger building, which is why Vistair has moved into the office at The Camgate Centre, Stanwell – roughly 100 metres from Heathrow’s Terminal Four.
Managing director Ian Herbert, who formed Vistair in 1996, said: “This is a significant move for Vistair and the latest chapter in our on-going development.
“We are an independent service provider which will give airlines more flexibility when, for example, choosing route documentation suppliers as they won’t be locked in to inflexible distribution arrangements. This will lead to better efficiency and higher standards.
“It gives us the opportunity for further growth in paper document operations and underlines our position in a fast-growing part of the aviation sector.
“The building is also in a fantastic location, putting us right where Vistair is – at the heart of the aviation technical support industry.”
