Vistair Wins Gulf State VVIP Operator Contract For Its Airfield Briefings
August 10
Vistair, the supplier of cutting-edge IT solutions to the airline industry, has delivered its state-of-the-art airfield briefings to a Gulf-based VVIP operator. The contract is a major win for Vistair as the company continues to expand into the Middle East.
The operator was formed to provide services for VVIPs. It operates a small number of large Boeing and Airbus Airliners and two BAE Systems Avro business jets.
Vistair has a strong track record in designing innovative web-based solutions which are driven entirely by the operational and regulatory needs of aircraft operators.
Its audio visual airfield briefing system is an invaluable pilot-orientated tool, presenting the pilot with a simple sequence of visual images accompanied by a voice-over scripted by airline professionals.
Each briefing builds situational awareness of the terrain, minimum safe altitudes, special features and conditions applying to the specific airfield.
The system has been used by more than 80 airlines and operators worldwide since its introduction in 1994. It is simple to use, employing full-screen images and an intuitive menu bar - users can skip forward or backwards, pause or repeat briefing content. It has been further refined as a web-based resource.
Specific benefits of Vistair’s airfield briefings include:
- Web delivery - the system has been designed using a simple HTML interface with the briefings using the industry standard Adobe Shockwave™ plug-in for the web browser
- Easy integrated with the crew intranet
- Detailed comprehensive and auditable user activity log
- Administration interface enabling user administration such as authorising and suspending users
- Compliance with JAR-OPS or EU-OPS route briefing requirements for route and aerodrome competence
