flydubai takes off with vistair
October 10
One of the world’s newest airlines, flydubai, has become a customer of Vistair’s flight operations document management service and is already achieving some significant savings in cost and time.
Based at Dubai International Airport, flydubai’s growing list of destinations already includes 26 cities across the Middle East, East Africa and Asia, including Bahrain, Kathmandu and, from Oct 16 Yekaterinburg in Russia.
The low-cost carrier, Dubai’s first, will be using Vistair to provide online delivery of manuals to its crews, manage its flight operations documents and gain easier compliance with GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates) regulations.
Fast-growing flydubai operates a fleet of nine next-generation Boeing 737-800s. It has ordered 50 of the single-aisle aircraft from Boeing, which are among the most fuel-efficient and quietest in service.
CEO of flydubai, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said: “As a low-cost airline, flydubai is firmly focused on providing the very best value to our customers, which is why we are pleased to have linked up with Vistair to manage our flight operations documents.
“The service has and will continue to save us time and money, which is good news for our passengers as we can pass on those savings.”
Vistair has a strong track record in designing state-of-the-art, web-based solutions which are driven entirely by the operational and regulatory needs of airlines. Many of the world’s leading airlines – both full service and low cost – use Vistair products.
Vistair managing director Ian Herbert said: “Employing people to do highly-specialised digital publishing costs airlines serious money.
“But they don’t need to do it. They can outsource to us and we will provide a highly-experienced, trusted and skilled specialist service and achieve significant cost savings for them.
“Our data management expertise can be used to publish and distribute hard copy, web-based copy, content management and data support for the growing range of Electronic Flight Bag technologies.
“There is no software to learn, train, license or support. The whole library of manuals is managed online, on Vistair’s servers, with instant access and full activity tracking and audit history.”
Key features and benefits of Vistair’s Outsourced Flight Ops Manuals Management are:
- Legacy document conversion from any format into a fully structured coherent set of manual data
- Publishing in any format – manuals can be delivered in HTML, print, CD-ROM, EFB or any other target format

- Manuals can be accessed and reviewed at any time 24/7
- Simple commercial solution from an industry-trusted supplier
