In twelve months, Vistair global logistics has become a major force in Europe’s airline industry
July 11
Vistair‘s delivery of technical and navigation manuals now serves 280 locations
From a standing-start, Vistair‘s Global Logistics service has become a major player in servicing European airlines with the delivery and updating of technical and navigation manuals to flight-decks, operations centres, and crew-rooms.
Having launched in April 2010, Vistair‘s Global Logistics operation now provides a fortnightly service to more than 280 customer locations (including 250 aircraft flight-decks) to deliver manuals and updates.
The Vistair service also provides everything else needed on the flight-deck, including fuel cards and insurance papers.
With a customer base that already includes Jet2, TNT, Thomas Cook, BMI Group, and Flybe, Vistair‘s Global Logistics operation is based at London Heathrow, where it has a major 6,000 square feet hub for storing, amending, printing, and managing manuals.
The operation has also now opened service-centres at airports in Glasgow, Manchester, East Midlands, and continental Europe – and other new pan-European centres are planned.
After just twelve months, the operation already employs more than 40 specially trained people, and has a fleet of vehicles approved by all airports where Vistair has airside access.
Vistair‘s Director of Global Logistics, Mark Lynam, was previously the head of European logistics operations for Boeing-owned Jeppesen.
“Given the Vistair approach to providing a seamless service, we intend to become Europe‘s biggest provider of logistical solutions to meet airlines‘ needs and to service every flight-deck and crew-room with manuals, updates, and all the other documentation that flight-crews need.
“While a Swiss-based route-manuals provider delivers the navigational data, we get those manuals onto every flight-deck on time – and provide the updating management services”, said Mr Lynam.
