Airlines using “Safetynet” hear mod’s experience

June 11

“SafetyNet” users asked for an online forum – so Vistair has delivered.

An up-dating workshop for the growing number of airlines using Vistair‘s cloud-based safety reporting system heard how “SafetyNet” is boosting safety and cutting costs for Britain‘s military aircraft.

Senior safety executives from such airlines as easyJet, Flybe, NetJets, Aer Lingus, SAS, and Air France, heard Squadron Leader Stuart Keenan, of the Occurrence Branch of the MoD‘s Military Aviation Authority, explain how the MoD adopted “SafetyNet” a year ago for all military aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, and the army.

He provided statistics to demonstrate an increase in safety reporting and a reduction in costs.  He also provided examples of how “SafetyNet” is helping to prevent any repetition of maintenance errors and raising awareness of safety procedures.

A key outcome from the workshop was a call from users of “SafetyNet” for an online forum, providing access to updates on the safety reporting system, and a platform for airlines and other users to share experience.

Vistair‘s founding Managing Director, Ian Herbert, took the call to heart and has now launched a closed online forum for all users of “SafetyNet”.

“We really welcomed the helpful and enthusiastic feedback from our ‘SafetyNet‘ users at the workshop, and we are now consulting the users of our other cloud based services for technical manuals and airport briefings to see if they, too, would like us to provide them with tailored online forums.

“We shall also contact the growing number of airlines using our Global Logistics service for delivering and updating flight-deck manuals, to see if such a forum would help them, too”, said Mr Herbert.
