Touch Flight Operations Portal
Touch is the "Killer application" that opens up the communication within your airline. Designed as a powerful notification management system, Touch is a single sign-on portal which offers access to all the essential information sources for the operational personnel within an airline. It seamlessly links a powerful mandatory notice management system with, for example, SafetyNet, the full range of electronic operations manuals and all the things you would expect to find on an intranet.
Notice Management
Managing notices to crew in an airline or other highly regulated business is a labour intensive task as once a notice is issued it needs to be distributed quickly and each member of staff needs to confirm that they have read the notice. The process both generates a lot of work and a lot of data.
All notices are distributed automatically using an email alert and the user's Touch home page. The system facilitates different types of notices including mandatory and optional viewing. All mandatory notices have to be acknowledged as read and understood by the individual crew member and management can access reports detailing exactly who has and has not read the notice.
Vistair have developed Touch to remove the vast bulk of this work. Touch is an intranet application that allows creation of the notice in the web page, or upload of the notice from your local machine. Once created the notice can then be sent for approval or published immediately to the audience. The audience will get an e-mail to alert them to the new notice. When they log-in the first thing they see is the new notice which they must view and acknowledge. Touch also stores the activity and will generate management reports of notices viewed.
Being an intranet application Touch also includes a repository for corporate documents and facilities such as telephone lists.
State of the art electronic management of flight operation manuals can also be managed through the link to the Touch interface, as can SafetyNet.
The system is simple to administer and has been tried and tested in the UK by some of its largest airlines.
